A Limited-License Market
Nevada operates as a limited-license state, meaning the number of cannabis business licenses is capped by jurisdiction based on population. As of the CCB's January 2025 Biennial Report, Nevada has approximately 132 adult-use retail licenses and no new application window is currently open for retail dispensary licenses. The primary path to market entry is purchasing an existing transferable license.
This limited-license structure means the brands and companies operating in Nevada represent a curated — not unlimited — set of operators who have navigated one of the most competitive licensing environments in the country.
Industry by the Numbers
According to the CCB's January 2025 Biennial Report, Nevada's cannabis industry includes:
- 103 medical dispensaries and retail cannabis stores
- 128 cultivation facilities
- 100 production facilities
- 8 licensed independent testing laboratories
- 46 distribution facilities
- 2 consumption lounges (licensed by the state)
- 14,582 individuals with active agent cards
Only 4 of Nevada's 17 counties currently permit recreational cannabis businesses: Clark, Washoe, Nye, and Storey.
Major Nevada Cannabis Companies
Planet 13
Planet 13 operates one of the world's largest cannabis dispensaries, a 112,000-square-foot entertainment complex on Desert Inn Road in Las Vegas. Beyond its massive retail operation, Planet 13 also operates DAZED!, the only state-licensed cannabis consumption lounge actively operating in Nevada as of early 2026. DAZED! opened on April 5, 2024, spans 3,000 square feet, and serves approximately 250 customers daily. Planet 13 is a member of the Nevada Cannabis Association.
Curaleaf
Curaleaf is one of the largest multi-state cannabis operators in the United States, with a significant presence in Nevada. The company operates cultivation, production, and retail facilities in the state. As a vertically integrated operator, Curaleaf controls its supply chain from cultivation through retail sale — all tracked through Nevada's METRC seed-to-sale system. Curaleaf is a member of the Nevada Cannabis Association.
Cookies
Cookies is a globally recognized cannabis brand founded in California that has expanded to Nevada with retail locations in Las Vegas. Known for its branded genetics and strain-specific product lines, Cookies operates dispensaries under its own branding. The company is a member of the Nevada Cannabis Association.
Jardin Premium Cannabis
Jardin is a Las Vegas-based cannabis retailer that has established itself as one of the city's prominent dispensary brands. Operating in the competitive Clark County market, Jardin serves both recreational consumers and medical patients under Nevada's dual-licensing framework established by SB 277. Jardin is a member of the Nevada Cannabis Association.
NuWu Cannabis Marketplace
NuWu Cannabis Marketplace is operated by the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe and is one of the largest cannabis retail operations in Las Vegas. NuWu also operates the SkyHigh Lounge, a cannabis consumption lounge that has been in operation since 2019. Because SkyHigh operates on tribal sovereign land, it is regulated by the tribe rather than the CCB — making it distinct from state-licensed lounges like DAZED! at Planet 13. NuWu is a member of the Nevada Cannabis Association.
Most dispensaries in Las Vegas are located within a short drive of the Strip. Some, like Planet 13, have become tourist attractions in their own right. Always bring a valid government-issued photo ID — you must be 21 or older to enter a dispensary.
The Nevada Cannabis Association
The Nevada Cannabis Association (NCA), formerly the Nevada Dispensary Association, is the state's primary cannabis industry organization. The NCA promotes best practices, conducts legislative advocacy, and provides compliance training for its members. Its membership includes Planet 13, Curaleaf, Cookies, Jardin, NuWu, and dozens of other operators across cultivation, production, distribution, testing, and retail.
